History
Born under the open skies and a different name, Aurora was her father's first daughter after eight sons from three wives. As such, there were certain expectations thrust upon her from a young age.
She was expected to be a healer, first and foremost. However, she was also expected to help with her father's younger children, gather food, cook, clean, mend clothing, and whatever else anyone older than her demanded. Aurora fulfilled her responsibilities, but not with any great enthusiasm as her father doted on his only daughter constantly.
She showed prodigious abilities for healing, even as a child. At the tender age of ten, her father believed her ready to face Bardam's Mettle alongside her older brothers. Aurora was shaken by the events and became resolute on being the best healer on the Steppe.
Aurora went on to participate in the Naadam every year afterwards. These bloody battles hardened her to even the most grievous of wounds, being able to bring her tribesmen back from the brink.
At 15, she was eligible to marry. Something she dreaded the moment she learned of it, not wanting to spend her life with another tribe or as a wife to a Khagan. She wanted to heal, seeing that it was her purpose.
There was a glimmer of hope, in the summer of her 16th year. The Khagan, Magnai Oronir, demanded to look into the eyes of every maiden on the Steppe to find his Nhaama. When it was her turn, he rejected her and Aurora has loathed the Oronir ever since.
Even so, men challenged her father and brothers. Others offered them resources and precious metals and gems. Her mother would not give her up, stating that she needed time to teach her daughter skills she needed to perform her duties as a wife.
It was during this time, someone else decided to try their luck. Aurora wanted nothing to do with him, a feeling in her gut telling her he was bad news. Her father agreed to his proposal. Aurora threw a fit.
She was appalled that her father would ever agree to let her marry this man. Her eldest brother tried to reason with him, but was rebuffed. Aurora raged at her father, and for the first time in her life, he laid a hand on her, slapping her across the face. Shocked that her father would do that she made a promise to herself that she would not marry anyone that she was ordered to.
Aurora waited until the night of the new moon to flee her tribe and the Steppe. She sold her jewelry for gil and took a boat to Kugane where she remained for two years. Until she heard that a tall Xaela was looking for his sister all throughout Yanxia and Othard.
After that, she made her way to Eorzea, wanting to go as far away as possible. Eventually, she ended up in Gridania, joining the Conjurer's guild. Now she travels as she pleases, healing any that need her help.
